The C(k)P® - Certified 401(k) Professional Designation has been Awarded

April 30, 2019 – The Retirement Advisor University is pleased to announce that Lee V. Bethel, CLU®, ChFC®, REBC®, RHU®, ChHC®, CAP®, AIF®, CPFA, CASL®, C(k)P® is now credentialed as a Certified 401(k) Professional – and holds the C(k)P® Designation, which represents a distinguished achievement for the professional Retirement Plan Advisor.

The C(k)P® or Certified 401(k) Professional Designation is administered by The Retirement Advisor University in collaboration with UCLA Anderson School of Management Executive Education.

The C(k)P® Designation distinguishes financial professionals who have demonstrated the knowledge and experience-level to favorably impact the outcome of corporate retirement plans.  Lee V. Bethel is now authorized to use the C(k)P® Designation certification mark.

The C(k)P® Standards & Certification Committee establishes the standards for the Certified 401(k) Professional Designation. Holders of the C(k)P® Designation are expected to maintain a high degree of knowledge and ability in the following areas:

  • Technical Competence
  • Optimizing Plan Outcomes
  • Business Management

To earn the right to use the C(k)P® Designation requires more than an academic aptitude. A financial professional is expected to demonstrate a real world application of the core competencies taught in the classroom.  

The prerequisites* to use the C(k)P® Designation on marketing material consists of:

  • 3 years of experience in the defined contribution industry;
  • 10 plans under management/advisory; and
  • $30 million of assets under management/advisory.

Bethel, a resident of Washington DC, is President of Comprehensive Benefit Services, Inc. and is a Series 7, 63 and 65 registered representative with LPL Financial. Bethel specializes in corporate and individual benefit, retirement, investment and insurance planning. He has been in the insurance, employee benefit, investment and financial

 

services field since 1979 and he is a graduate of Morehouse College. He is a member of the Society of Financial Service Professionals, the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors, the National Association of Health Underwriters and the District of Columbia Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors. He is a Life and Qualifying Member of the Million Dollar Round Table with seven Court of the Table qualifications based on life and securities sales production. He was featured in the April 2006 issue of Life Insurance Selling and in September of 2006 he was elected to the Board of Directors of the National African American Insurance Association. In January 2009 he became a member of the Board of Trustees of The American College. He is a past Chair of the Employee Benefits Section for the Society of Financial Services Professionals. He is married and has 3 daughters. He has served on the Board of Advisors of his church, is an accomplished bass guitar player and the former director of a 20-piece church orchestra.
